Zinwell ZAT-970A TV Converter Box Review (2011)

The Zinwell ZAT-970A TV Converter Box overall is a good buy. Among the features of this product is that it supports analog pass throughs, has multi-lingual support, offers parental controls, and includes a remote control.

Our research of reviews posted on shows that Coby DTV102 buyers approve of the picture quality is fairly good and clean, though the audio can get out of synch from time to time. This is fixed by simply turning the box off and then back on again.

The product does offer 8 timer events, though there are a lot of menus to hop through before you get there. Plus, you have to confirm the final selection and failure to do so will cancel out the scheduled event. It has been known to lose the channel as well on recurring events, so regular monitoring of the settings is recommended.

One of the downsides is that some functions have a password control to them. These are found in the manual, so it’s important to keep that handy. Another is that the program guide really isn’t that terrific. It offers only the current hour and the next one, so it’s very much just for immediate viewing and not for planning ahead.

One of the upsides that many other models don’t have, however, is the presence of both an on/off button and channel buttons on the front of the box. This makes it easy to operate without a remote control, should it be misplaced at the moment.

For the most part, this unit satisfies.
